Australian Epilepsy Longitudinal Study: Wave 3

The Epilepsy Foundation is undertaking a research program to investigate the psychological & social consequences of epilepsy over many years. Wave 3 is being implemented in 2013/14, it will cover the costs of living with epilepsy including housing, employment status & costs of medicines.

Almost half of people with epilepsy have experienced unfair treatment or discrimination as a result of their epilepsy, according to a report based on data collected by the Epilepsy Foundation of Victoria, launched earlier this year.

A novel metabolic approach to reduce seizures has recently been found to be effective in animal models of epilepsy & seizures. Royal Melbourne Hospital is looking for patients of 16 years or older with treatment resistant seizures.
